The small and medium fit for lifes are specifically made for dog lovers who want to use the treadmill at home. Both the small and medium models fold away so that is a great feature if you need a space saving design.

The biggest issue that I have with Fit Fur Life treadmills is the price tag. The small sized is perhaps the only competitively priced model, as £659. However, from there up you are looking at a range from £990.00 to £1,865.00, which in my opinion is extortionate.

All things considered, Fit Fur Life Treadmills are quality products. With Cesar Millan’s ‘The Dog Whisperer’ bringing dog tread mills to my attention for the first time, I realised just how useful a tool it could be to calm down my high energy Staffordhire Bull Terrier.

I live in the UK, and so I thought it would be helpful I did my own research into dog treadmills so that I could tell you what was the best option for me and my dog Mia.

The two leading brands of dog treadmills in the UK are ‘Dog Jogger’ and ‘Fit Fur Life’. To be honest, finding dog treadmills in the UK came few and far between. That is probably to do with the misconception that dog treadmills are either for the wealthy or for lazy people.

In actual fact, dog tredmills are used everyday across the globe by ordinary folks, much like myself. It is of course no replacement for a dogs daily walk/s, but it can be an added bonus for your pet to tire him/her out and to prevent destructive behaviour due to frustration or build up of energy.

You may be familiar with the scene of coming home from a tiring day at work, only to find that your dog is going beserk because he has been asleep for the most part of the day. This would be the perfect time to give your dog some treadmill training so you can have that 10 or so minutes break that you need to feel human again!

My personal favourite dog tred mill, the treadmill that I bought for my Staffy, is the Dog Jogger. The reason why I chose this instead of the ‘Fit Fur Life’ treadmill is because the Dog Jogger is neat, easy to store, and vainly it looks good! It also has the function of being set on a incline for your pooch to use different muscle groups, and it had great customer reviews.

The Dog Jogger is a brilliant piece of kit that was reviewed as a favourite on the Gadget Show. It is a solid piece of equipment that will keep your pooch safe, and it also folds flat so you can move it or store it away when you have visitors.

The Dog Jogger has multiple speed modes, and I love the fact that you can put the treadmill on incline or decline to get your pooch to work that little bit harder.

The Dog Jogger is significantly cheaper than the Fit Fur Life models, and it is also lighter and more compact. Quite frankly, there is not much difference between the functionality of the two treadmills, so I wanted to save my bank balance in this case.

When you train your dog on the treadmill, make sure that his/her surrounding are clear of tempting toys or treats. Dogs are not very good judges of vertical distances, and they may leap off.

Never Leave a dog leash tethered to a dog treadmill, otherwise he may become stressed and fearful. Make sure that the floor behind the treadmill is soft, i.e. by placing down a rug or a blanket, just in case your pooch decides to have a pause in exercise.
