“I bought this for my Italian (miniature) Greyhound, and after a few days training her on it, she decided she loved it! Now I just ask her if she wants to go for a walk and she runs over and jumps on the treadmill and waits for me to turn it on. Since I swim-laps daily at the gym (and obviously little Bella cannot join me), this has been a great solution for her excessive energy!

A few weeks after I got it, the treadmill started having errors and wouldn’t run properly. Since I purchased the treadmill through a third party, I thought the PetZen service department would give me a hard time when it came to repairing the treadmill. BUT I was quite wrong. I sent an email to customer service asking if there was a reset or something that would fix the problem. A service rep was on the phone calling me within 10 minutes and said that the issue was static-electricity in the bone control-console. He said he would put a new one in the mail the next mail delivery free of charge. I had it within 2 days and I haven’t had a problem since.

If you can afford the product, I would recommend it to anyone! It is great for me and my energetic dog!”

“This treadmill is excellent for dogs under 30 lbs. It was easy to assemble in 30 mins with a screw driver. My Toy Fox Terrier learned to walk on it very quickly. He hopes to loose 4 lbs by summer. Great for busy pet parents or small dogs that have nasty winters.”

As you can see, the Petzen or Gopet range of canine treadmills are the most popular. The Dog Treadmill Review Team could not find any customer reviews on the Fit Fur Life range or Avanti. Whilst these products are great, it seems that the popular choice is PetZen.

One thing to consider is that there are no complaints about dog treadmill products to date. This is very positive, pointing to the fact that customer satisfaction is very high.

The DogTread is made by a company called PetZen. It is a best-seller in the US, so we wanted to find out why.

We realised very quickly that one factor is the price. This Dogtread is arguably the cheapest treadmill for a dog on the market at present. But whilst it is inexpensive, it is a brilliant product with great features.

Firstly, it is light weight, with a ergonomical design that will fit into any apartment or house. I am amazed at how compact this item is.

Dog treadmills are expensive as a rule, and when you are shopping for the savviest buy on the market, it can be confusing to determine good value for money and good quality. That is where I hope that we can help.

The US market was alot simpler to find good inexpensive dog tread mills than in the UK. This is because the range is so vast, astonishingly reaching $2000 for some treadmills. Our tried and tested favourites are the Petzen Dog Treadmill for small to medium dogs, and the Dogtread PZ1703 large treadmill for dogs.

The Petzen is just $489.99, and the larger one comes in a little more expensive at $899.99.

I personally use the Petzen with my Staffordshire Bull Terrier and she loves it. It is a simple sleek design, and luckily for me it is light and easy to fold and store.

I also think this one is a winner because it can be set for resistance training (uphill and downhill settings) to give your pet a harder workout.

The Dogtread large is a favourite of my colleague John and his German Shepherd Tim. This one is quite a solid item, good for dogs up to 150lb. If you are worried about portability, the Dogtread has wheels fitted to one side for manouverability.

The max speed on the Dogtread is 8mph, and you can programme distance and time for your pooches workout. This product has it all – even a treat holder at the front of the walker to keep your dog focused.

The UK market was a little different. There are a few different dog tredmills out there, but the range is limited. The two main brands of canine treadmill in the UK are ‘Dog Jogger’ and ‘Fit Fur Life’.

After evaluating the range, checking safety features, size, weight, aesthetics, product guarantees and of course price, we unanimously reccomend the Dog Jogger range.

The small to medium Dog Jogger is £674.25 (25% off), so whilst it is more than in the US, the product is worth that value.

Dog Joggers are the cheapest treadmills available, unless you want to import a product from the US and pay for the shipping charges (this is possible, and may suit you more). Fit Fur Life treadmills are great for business users or for rehabilitation, but they are rather cumbersome and are more expensive.

Dog Joggers are compact and reasonably light weight. They fold up for easy storage, and also have the functionality of resistance training and speed, distance and time modes.

With Cesar Millan’s ‘The Dog Whisperer’ bringing dog tread mills to my attention for the first time, I realised just how useful a tool it could be to calm down my high energy Staffordhire Bull Terrier.

I live in the UK, and so I thought it would be helpful I did my own research into dog treadmills so that I could tell you what was the best option for me and my dog Mia.

The two leading brands of dog treadmills in the UK are ‘Dog Jogger’ and ‘Fit Fur Life’. To be honest, finding dog treadmills in the UK came few and far between. That is probably to do with the misconception that dog treadmills are either for the wealthy or for lazy people.

In actual fact, dog tredmills are used everyday across the globe by ordinary folks, much like myself. It is of course no replacement for a dogs daily walk/s, but it can be an added bonus for your pet to tire him/her out and to prevent destructive behaviour due to frustration or build up of energy.

You may be familiar with the scene of coming home from a tiring day at work, only to find that your dog is going beserk because he has been asleep for the most part of the day. This would be the perfect time to give your dog some treadmill training so you can have that 10 or so minutes break that you need to feel human again!

My personal favourite dog tred mill, the treadmill that I bought for my Staffy, is the Dog Jogger. The reason why I chose this instead of the ‘Fit Fur Life’ treadmill is because the Dog Jogger is neat, easy to store, and vainly it looks good! It also has the function of being set on a incline for your pooch to use different muscle groups, and it had great customer reviews.

The Dog Jogger is a brilliant piece of kit that was reviewed as a favourite on the Gadget Show. It is a solid piece of equipment that will keep your pooch safe, and it also folds flat so you can move it or store it away when you have visitors.

The Dog Jogger has multiple speed modes, and I love the fact that you can put the treadmill on incline or decline to get your pooch to work that little bit harder.

The Dog Jogger is significantly cheaper than the Fit Fur Life models, and it is also lighter and more compact. Quite frankly, there is not much difference between the functionality of the two treadmills, so I wanted to save my bank balance in this case.

When you train your dog on the treadmill, make sure that his/her surrounding are clear of tempting toys or treats. Dogs are not very good judges of vertical distances, and they may leap off.

Never Leave a dog leash tethered to a dog treadmill, otherwise he may become stressed and fearful. Make sure that the floor behind the treadmill is soft, i.e. by placing down a rug or a blanket, just in case your pooch decides to have a pause in exercise.
